Robert "Bob" Douglas Sammons 1929-2017

Robert "Bob" Douglas Sammons, 87, of Flatwoods, KY passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Community Hospice Center in Ashland, KY.

He was born October 4, 1929 in Prestonsburg, KY; a son of the late Earl and Roxie Miller Sammons.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elsie Elkins Sammons.

Mr. Sammons was a Korean War Veteran in the US Army and was the owner of "Continuous Spouting", a gutter and siding business. He enjoyed boating, building antique cars, and spending time at the flea market.

He is survived by his daughter, Roberta "Bobbi" Sargent of Flatwoods, KY; three grandchildren: Nicholas (Kacie) Sargent of Cameron, NC and Samantha and Isabella Sargent of Flatwoods, KY; two great grandsons: Emmett David and Waylon James Sargent of Cameron, NC ; one brother, Rev. Earl (Judy) Sammons of South Point, OH ; one sister, Ella (Alex) Kirk of Lowry Crossing, TX ; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 12pm at the KY Veterans Cemetery NE in Greenup, KY with Pastor Mike Sargent officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community Hospice Center, 1480 Carter Ave, Ashland, KY 41101.

The family has entrusted Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY with the arrangements.

Only new Bob for a short time. I met him at the flea market. Bob was one of the guys. He will be missed by the flea market gang that's for sure. He was a real gentlemen never heard Bob say a bad thing about anyone

We're so sorry for your loss.....My husband and I loved Bob...We met at the hillbilly flea market and I shared fries with him many times...We are so going to miss him , already do ....He was such a wonderful man and I have no doubts he is in heaven now ....May God Bless his family ... RIP Sweet Bob
