Bonnie Sue Yates Salyers

Bonnie Sue Yates Salyers, 74, of Flatwoods, KY, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods surrounded by her loved ones.

Bonnie was born August 2, 1950, in Flatwoods to the late Dennis Raymond Yates and Grace May Baker Yates.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Patrick Yates and Denver Dee Yates, and two sisters, Helen Mae Wright and Hilda Russell.

Mrs. Salyers was a retired cook/baker from the Russell Independent School District where she also graduated in 1968. She was a long-time member of Temple Baptist Church in Flatwoods, KY where she served in the children’s church, Women’s Missionary Society, camp ministry, the church choir, and countless other ministries. 

Bonnie is survived by her loving husband and caregiver of 56 years, Gary L. Salyers of Flatwoods, KY; two sons, Bryan Lee (Samantha) Salyers of Flatwoods, KY, and Barry Michael Salyers of Florence, KY; a daughter, Belinda Grace (Christopher) Parker of Flatwoods, KY; three grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Baylee Leann Salyers and her fiancé Taylor McFarland, Reagan Grace Parker, and Rylee Michal Parker; three brothers, Harley Allen (Betty) Yates of West Jefferson, OH, Perry Alfred Yates of Flatwoods, KY, and Williams Ervin (Erin) Wright of Flatwoods, KY; three sisters, Diana Lee (Buck) McGraw, Brenda Kay Conley, and Kathy Ellen Henry all of Flatwoods, KY; her in-laws: Jerry Dean and Joyce Salyers, Gayla and Joe Fletcher, Linda Louise Gartin, and Charlene Salyers. She was affectionately known as Bon-Bon to her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Temple Baptist Church (124 Reid St, Flatwoods, KY 41139) with Pastor Jim Pridemore officiating. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Greenup, KY.

Visitation will be 6 P.M. – 8 P.M. on Monday and one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church.
