Calvin Gene Eugene Jeffers

Calvin “Gene” Eugene Jeffers, 74, of Raceland, Ky, passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland Ky. Gene was born on July 22, 1947, in Glenwood, WV to the late Orville Calvin and Beulah Knapp Jeffers. In addition to his parent’s, Gene was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Jeffers. Gene was a crane operator at AK Steel, and later in life worked as a Valet at KDMC. He was a member of Christian Faith Outreach in Ashland, KY and helped support the homeless ministry there, through time and donations. Gene will be remembered for his generosity, willingness to help others, and his pleasant and unchanging demeanor. He loved bluegrass music, deer hunting, and cherished spending time with his family and grandchildren. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Sharon Kay Gillum Jeffers of Raceland KY; their daughter Sharon (James) Jarrell and grandchildren Kennedy and Jamerson Jarrell of Wurtland,KY. Gene also has 2 sons, Emerson (Marsha) Hart of Gainesville, TX, Garron Hart of Staunton,VA and his daughter, Angie (James) McIntyre of O’ Fallon Illinois, and several grandchildren, and great grandchildren; four sisters, Wanda Smith of Huntington, WV, Joyce (Danny) Arthur of Lavalette, WV, Debbie (Glenvill) Shull of Milton, WV, and Sandy (Dale) Lucas of Proctorville, OH; one brother, Doug Jeffers of Huntington, WV. He was a 2nd dad to his nieces “the girls” and has a host of extended family and close friends. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm and the funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY, with Pastor Gene Easterling officiating.
