Dorothy V. Hamm Cox, 91, of Flatwoods, KY, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. Mrs. Cox was born August 16, 1926, in Worthington, KY to the late Robert Preston and Sarah Emma Hyatt Hamm. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her loving husband, Curtis Cox; one son, Bobby Cox; five brothers: Lorren, Granville, Oval “Aloe”, Arvil, and Robert Hamm; and three sisters: Maggie Elswick, Anna Scroggins, and Essie Florence Gue. Mrs. Cox loved to witness about the Lord and reading the word. She attended the Pentecostal Church on Hensley Hollow in Flatwoods, KY. Mrs. Cox is survived by her seven children; five sons, Jesse Cox of Flatwoods, KY, Harold Cox of Cornersville, TN, Danny Cox of Naples, FL, Marvin “Marty” Cox of Flatwoods, KY, and Gerald Cox of South Point, OH; two daughters, Anna Lou Carter of Flatwoods, KY and Virginia “Ginny” Imes of Ironton, OH; 19 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY with Pastor Rick Morrison officiating. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, KY. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at the funeral home.
