ASHLAND — Ford Evans, 85, of Ashland, went home to be with his Savior on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, of an extended illness in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.He was born on May 23, 1926, at Bruin, to the late Elijah Horton and Susan (Tackett) Evans.He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Clara; two brothers, Elijah Horton Evans and Harklin Evans; three stepsisters; three half sisters; and nine half brothers.Surviving are seven children, Larry Ford (Paggia) Evans of Waycross, Ga., Rickie Lee ( Johnnie) Evans of Rush, Clara Marie (John) Cassell of Ashland, Mary Angel (Tommy) Romans of Lavalette, W.Va., Ronnie Ray (Linda) Evans of Ashland, James Leslie Evans of Bear Creek and Timothy Allen (Christy) Evans of Ashland, nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister, Garnet Hall of Middletown, Ohio; and a special friend, Wanda Pack of Ashland.He was retired from the Huntington Brass Foundry. He was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Ashland and also attended Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle of Flatwoods and Community Tabernacle in Flatwoods.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle in Flatwoods by Brother Eugene Haney and Brother Lloyd Bailey. Entombment will be Rose Hill Mausoleum in Ashland.Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Aug. 26, 2011, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
