Fred McIntyre

Fred McIntyre, 67, of Flatwoods, KY was called home by his heavenly Father, Thursday, March 13, 2014 at his residence with his children, wife, and family members at his side.   Mr. McIntyre was born November 10, 1946 in Ashland, KY; a son of the late Bert and Amy Terry McIntyre.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert McIntyre and a sister, Phyllis Hansen.   He was a former newspaper pressman with the Daily Independent; retiring in 2005 after 37 ½ years of service.  He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam and was a Purple Heart recipient.  He was an avid Fairview Supporter and UK fan.  He loved fishing, his grandchildren and children.  He was of the Christian Faith.   He is survived by his wife, Sandra Fluty McIntyre; a son, Scott McIntyre and his wife, Penni of Westwood, KY; a daughter, Erica Wilks and her husband, Charles of Flatwoods, KY; five grandchildren: Morgan and Mason McIntyre, Rylee and Alex Joiner, and Scout Wilks; six sisters Clara Ruth Johnson of Bedford, KY, Dorothy Sineath of Virginia Beach, VA, Connie Waugh of Richmond, KY, Lenora McIntyre of Lexington, KY, Kaye Griswold of Flatwoods, KY, and Patricia Conley of Greenup, KY; three brothers:  Bert McIntyre of Magnolia, TX, Bill McIntyre of Ashland, KY, and Eddie McIntyre of Flatwoods, KY and a host of loving family members and friends.   The funeral will be at 3 PM on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY with Rev. Tim French officiating.  The committal service will be at a later date at the KY Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Greenup County, KY.  The Marine Corps League, Greenbo Detachment will be performing the final salute in honor of Mr. McIntyre.
