George Blanton III, 34, of Wheelersburg, OH, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.Mr. Blanton was born May 23, 1977 is Portsmouth, Ohio to his loving parents, Eddie K. Blanton of Greenup, KY and Rebecca Jones of West Portsmouth, OH. Mr. Blanton was a proud Corporal in the Marine Corps, who received a rifle marksman badge, national defense service deployment ribbon, 3 certificates of commendation, letter of appreciation, meritorious mast, sea service deployment ribbon (W/1), NATO medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Armed Service Medal. He was also truck driver for Mills Pride and most recently a cable technician for Time Warner Cable. He was a member of Rome Lodge #535 F&AM from Stout, OH, where he served as master of the lodge in 2008. He was also York Rite in Hillsboro, OH, and Allied Masonic Degrees from Charles Asa Brown Chapter.He was most of all a loving father to his son.Mr. Blanton is survived by, in addition to his parents, a loving son: Lafe Ison Blanton, a stepson, Lathen Ruby, both are sons of Rachel Turner of Wheelersburg, OH: 3 brothers, Eddie K. Blanton, Jr. of Greenup; Paul Brown and Eugene Brown of Portsmouth, OH; 4 sisters: Deanna K. (Travis) Grizzle of Greenup, Racheal Lee (Mike Caldwell) Blanton of Portsmouth, OH, Pamela Lynn Pinkerman of Wheelersburg, OH, Misty Dawn (Josh) Henderson of Greenup, KY; a stepfather, Danny Jones of West Portsmouth, OH, a stepbrother, Shane Ginn of New Boston, OH, a stepsister, Shauna Christine Ginn of Sonora, CA. He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Holly and Jacob Grizzle; Taylor, Tyler, and Richard Russell; George and Harley Dixon, Eli Gray, and Riley Pinkerman; Myka and Izaiah Henderson; Nicholas and Hunter Blanton, Domanick and Destiny Brown; 1 great-niece, Emmalee Russell.The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, with Pastor Ezra Burton officiating. Burial will follow in Blanton Cemetery in Greenup, KY.The visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2011 at the funeral home. Masonic Service will be provided by Rome Lodge #535 F&AM from Stout, OH at 8 p.m. on Friday. Military Honors will be provided by United States Marine Corps from Cross Lanes, WV at the grave site.
