Georgia Mae Lewis Blackburn

Georgia Mae Lewis Blackburn, 76, of Flatwoods, KY passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY. Ms. Blackburn was born on August 16, 1939 in Banner, KY; a daughter of the late Joe Wheeler, Sr. and Irene Adkins Lewis. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Joe Wheeler Lewis, Jr. and Roy Lewis; and a sister, Betty Jo Jones. Ms. Blackburn was a retired school teacher for Floyd Co. Schools and attended Advance Memorial United Methodist Church in Flatwoods, KY.  She was a graduate of Morehead State University and Ohio State University.  She was a member of Greenup Co. Retired Teachers Association and the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by six brothers: Denver Lewis of Marion, OH, Douglas Lewis of Betsy Layne, KY, Randal Lewis, Paul V. Lewis, and A. Bryant Lewis all of Stonville, KY, and David Lewis of Pikeville, KY; four sisters: Juanita Plumlee of Port Clinton, OH, Janice Sponn of Monticello, KY, Doris Ann Lewis of Stonville, KY, and Brenda Carol Lewis of Marysville, OH; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. The funeral will be at Advance Memorial United Methodist Church in Flatwoods, KY on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 11 AM with Pastor Mark Wilson and her brother, Douglas Lewis officiating.  Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, KY. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.  Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY has been entrusted with arrangements.
