Gilbert Lee Waugh

Gilbert Lee Waugh, 76, of Flatwoods, KY passed from this life to his eternal life on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY. He was born on September 5, 1938 in Boyd County, KY, a son of the late, Gilbert Waugh and Shirley Robinette Waugh Hutchinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Waugh; two sisters:  Carol Huber and Pauline Downs; and a grandson, Trenton Cordle. Mr. Waugh was an accomplished song writer, and had been recording gospel music since the 1970’s.  He was of the Pentecostal Faith, which was his inspiration for his songs. He was a retired carman for C & O Railroad and a Kentucky Colonel. He is survived by his wife of fifty four years, Gloria Jean Short Waugh; two daughters:  Lois Ann (Greg) Cordle of Ashland, KY, and Marcia Dale (Randy) Cordle of Flatwoods, KY; two grandchildren:  Tiffany (Chris) Cordle of Flatwoods, KY and Tara (Sean) LeMaster of Ashland, KY; five great grandchildren: Ryan, Pyper, Tenley, Pia, and Sophie; a brother, George Patrick (Jeanie) Waugh of Ashland, KY; and a sister, Yvonne (Danny) Hickman of Ashland, KY,  and a host of extended family and friends. The funeral will be at 1 PM on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY with Bro. Randy Cordle officiating.  Burial will follow at Palmer Cemetery in Flatwoods, KY.
