Glima Beatrice “Bea” Slone Allen, 99, of Flatwoods, KY, formerly of Pikeville, KY, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods, KY.Mrs. Allen was born June 12, 1918, in Pikeville, KY, to the late Simon and Myrtle Elkins Slone.In addition to her parents Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kelly Howard Allen; three daughters: Glema Rowe, Macie Boston, and Barbara Mayes; and one sister, Gladys Mateles.Mrs. Allen was a retired U.S. Postmaster from Shelbiana Post Office in Pikeville, KY where she worked for 32 years. She was a 1935 graduate of Pikeville High School. Mrs. Allen was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and quilting. Mrs. Allen was a member of Bridges Christian Church in Russell, KY.Mrs. Allen is survived by her two sons, Joe (Connie) Allen of Ashland, KY, and Jerry (Sue) Slone of Pikeville, KY; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.Funeral Service will be held at 1 P.M. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY, with Ann and Elmer Mullins officiating. Mrs. Allen will be laid to rest next to her husband at Johnson Memorial Cemetery in Pikeville, KY.Visitation will be from 11 A.M. until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community Hospice Care Center (1480 Carter Ave, Ashland, KY 41101).Condolences can be expressed at baileyfamilyfuneralhome.com.
