Ida “Mamaw” Louise Bevins Gilliam Williamson, 90, of Flatwoods, KY, formerly of Pike County, KY passed away, Monday, May 6, 2013, at Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods, KY.
Mrs. Williamson was born May 26, 1922 in Rockhouse, KY, a daughter of the late George and Mary Smith Bevins. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Captain Walker Gilliam, Sr. and Carl Williamson, Sr.; three sons: William “Bill” Gilliam, Geroge E. Gilliam, and Captain W. Gilliam, Jr., a daughter, Barbara S. Smith; five brothers: Jim, Willie, Junior, Flava, and Johnny Bevins; and two sisters: Finice Elkins and Fonnie Elkins.
She was of the Old Regular Baptist Faith.
Mrs. Williamson enjoyed dancing, flowers, flea marketing, and Bluegrass Music. She was personal friends with Melvin Goins and Bill Monroe.
Surviving to mourn her passing are two sons: Carl (Diane) Williamson, Jr. of Benton, KY, and Larry Gilliam of Flatwoods, KY; two daughters: Shelby Reynolds of Flatwoods, K Y and Kathie Gilliam (French) Workman of Flatwoods, KY; a special daughter-in-law, Mary Gilliam of Turkey Creek, KY; two great nieces: Kathleen Cruthers and Carol Hartsfield, both of Ocala, FL; Fourteen grandchildren: Alona Gilliam, Ashlee Williamson, Josh Gilliam, Belinda French, Mike French, Debbie Reynolds, Tim Smith, Jim Smith, Chris Smith, Megan Cathey, B.J. Gilliam, Jamie Gilliam, Dusty Gilliam, and George Gilliam, Jr.; twenty one great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 1 pm, Friday, May 10, 2013 at Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, KY with Elder Richard Statton and Mark Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Family Cemetery in Rockhouse, KY.
The viewing will be Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 6 to 9 PM at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY, and also a viewing from 11 am until funeral time on Friday at Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, KY.
