Rev. Ira Jacobs, 91, of Ashland, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday April 5th, 2011 in Kingsbrook Life Care Center in Ashland.
Rev. Jacobs was born Dec. 29th, 1919, in Morrisville, W.Va., a son of the late Allen D. and Malissa Lovejoy Jacobs.
He was a coal miner and retired from Second National Bank as a maintenance man. He was a member of Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle in Flatwoods
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Maude Hatfield Jacobs.
Survivors include four sons, Leonard Ira (Carol) Jacobs of Hahire, Ga., Leon (Jan) Jacobs of New Briton, Minn., Leroy (Nancy) Jacobs of Lloyd and Paul (Connie) Jacobs of Flatwoods; four daugthers, Shirley (Russell) Keeton of Ashland, Reable Copley of Flatwoods, Fred Shackelford of Yorktown, Va., and Doris (Leonard A) Hall of Greenup; a sister, Ella Francis (Steve) Gentry of Lakeland, Fla., 28 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, family and friends.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 8 at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods by the Rev. Lloyd L. Bailey and the Rev. Jeffery E. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 pm to 9 pm April 7th 2011 at the funeral home.
