James Matthew " Matt" Erwin

James Matthew “Matt” Erwin, 40, of Ashland, KY, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023.

Mr. Erwin was born on March 25, 1982, in Huntington, WV, to Timothy and Gail Click Erwin.

Matt was preceded in death by his brother, Timmy Erwin Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Jim and Betty Click; and his paternal grandparents, Claude and Mary Erwin.

Matt was a monitor and counselor at Riverside Recovery. He was a car enthusiast, a certified welder, and a New York Yankees fan. Matt was a 2001 graduate of Boyd County High School and a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Matt is survived by his two daughters, Katlyn Erwin of Ashland, KY and Layla Erwin; a son, Kolter Christy; a sister, Christa Erwin Spears of Catlettsburg, KY; his loving girlfriend, Cassie Gore of Rush, KY; and host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY with Steve Evans officiating. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland, KY.

Visitation will be from 10 A.M. – noon on Monday at the funeral home.
