James JD Edward Dorsey

James “JD” Edward Dorsey, 72, of Flatwoods, KY, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. Mr. Dorsey was born May 3, 1949, in Charleston, WV, to the late James Lovell and Freda Jane Bailes Dorsey. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dorsey was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Bielanski. JD was an Ironworker for Local 79 in Norfolk, VA, a member at the Moose Lodge 892 in Ashland, KY, the VFW Post 993 in Portsmouth, VA, and a Vietnam Army Veteran. He loved the Lord and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Dorsey is survived by his loving wife of twelve years and friend for thirty-two years, Elizabeth “Liz” Irene Collett Dorsey of Flatwoods, KY; a daughter, Jessica Dorsey of Elizabeth City, NC, three step-daughters, Jennifer Carmines of Flatwoods, KY, Amber (Keith) Henson of Kitts Hill, OH, and Nicole (Jared) Carmines of Chillicothe, OH; two stepsons, Larry (Dana) Collett of St. Matthews, SC and Tommy Collett of Flatwoods, KY; thirteen grandchildren, including the apple of his eye, Montana Rose; two great-children; and a host of extended family and friends.
