James Salyers, 91, of Flatwoods, KY went home to be with the Lord December 18, 2015. James was born April 11, 1924 in Cheap, KY to the late Eldid (Doc) and Lueranie Reffett Salyers.
Mr. Salyers was a proud Veteran of the US Army. He retired from C&O Railroad after many years of service. He loved attending Community Tabernacle, and never met a stranger there or anywhere. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and telling a good story. He truly loved his entire family, and loved spoiling the grandkids and great-grandkids.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of nearly 70 years, Louise Salyers; his son Clifton (Judy) Salyers of Flatwoods; grandchildren Mark (Denise) Salyers, Barb (Rusty) Scott, and Terry (Cathy) Henry; great-grandchildren Mason Salyers, Nick Scott, Ashli (Micah) Bowling, and April and Austin Pemberton; and a sister Pheaba Yates of Midway, TN.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings Ernest Salyers, Ora McKee, Minnie Akers, and Gracie Duty.
Friends may call Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 6-9 P.M. at the Bailey Family Funeral Home, Flatwoods, KY. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015 at 1 P.M. at the funeral home with J.R. Hampton officiating. Burial with full Military Honors will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.
