John Burton Chandler

John Burton Chandler, 79, of Flatwoods, KY, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY.

Mr. Chandler was born on December 6, 1943, in Riverside, CA, to the late Theadore Cline and Olive Marie Loucks Chandler.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a sister, Kay Newhouse.

Mr. Chandler was a Machinist for Armco in Ashland, KY for many years. He was a United States Army Veteran. He was of the Baptist faith.

John is survived by his loving wife, Linnie Elizabeth Sergent Chandler of Flatwoods, KY; two sons, John Troy (Lisa) Chandler of Nashville, TN, and Lonnie Rice of Pedro, OH; a daughter, Paula Rice of Flatwoods, KY; six grandchildren; three sisters, Nan (Dan) Egnor of St. Albans, WV, Judy (Kenny) Cobb of South Charleston, WV, and Rae Hartwell of Fuquay Varina, NC; many nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY, with Minister Dan Egnor officiating. Burial will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Greenup, KY.

Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour before the service on Wednesday.
