John Wayne Buddy Barker

John Wayne “Buddy” Barker, 61, of Greenup, KY died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones Friday, March 14, 2014 at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, KY. Mr. Barker was born September 25, 1952 in Horn Hollow Greenup, KY; a son of Josephine Horn Barker of Greenup, KY and the late Douglas Barker. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Virginia “Jenny” Barker; two daughters Paula Barker of Flatwoods, KY, and Jonda Madden (Fielden) of Westwood, KY; four grandchildren, Brooke and McKenzie Miller, Mattison Mercer, and Arianna Madden; four brothers, George “Sonny” Barker (Joyce) of Charleston, SC, Steve Barker (Susie) of Greenup, KY, Larry Barker (Bernice) of Greenup, KY, and Chester Barker (Lois) of Flatwoods, KY; five sisters Joyce Nelson (Don,) Carol Bullion (Jim,) Jean Bullion (Jerry,) Kay Bullion (Phillip,) and Rosemary Melvin (Bobby) all from Greenup, KY. Buddy was self employed as a carpenter. His work was his pride and rightfully so as he was a genius with his hands. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends. Buddy was a giant among men with a heart of gold. The funeral will be at 1 PM on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Wurtland Church of God in Wurtland, KY with Rev. Lloyd L. Bailey and Rev. Tim French officiating. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Cemetery in Catlettsburg, KY. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 PM Monday, March 17, 2014 at Wurtland Church of God.
