Josephine (Jo) Meek, 93, former Flatwoods resident died on January 9th, 2020 at Friendship Health and Rehab in Pewee Valley, Kentucky.  She has found her reward for a life lived in service to others and is with Jesus today. Born February 20th, 1926 in Russell, Kentucky and preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Dora Deere (Abrams), sister Catherine (Lee) and brother Clyde. She was married to Earl Meek, Jr. June 30th, 1950.  Jo and Earl were active members of Flatwoods First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for over 50 years and volunteered her cooking skills as the cook for Wednesday night family dinners for 25 years. Jo loved gardening, flowers, birds, and singing.  As a Sunday school teacher, she mentored so many and lead a Christian life by example.  She loved everyone and was loved by everyone in return. She is survived by her husband Earl Jr., two sons David Michael (Carolyn), John Randall (Karen), three grandchildren, Taylor Meek (Jaclyn), Carmen Scyphers (Brian), and Corey Hurlston (Bill), nine great-grandchildren, Warren, Lilly, Jackson, Trinton, Boston, Simon, Evelyn, Knox and Calvin, brother John, sisters Ruth (Russell) and Carol (York). A funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Tuesday, January 14, 2019, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, KY. Visitation will be from 11 A.M. until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
