Josephine Scaggs Harris

GREENUP — Josephine Scaggs Harris, 80, of Greenup, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.Mrs. Harris was born Jan. 3, 1931, in Greenup, to the late Roscoe and Didama White Sanders. She was also preceded in death by husbands, Richard Harris and Norman Scaggs; and two brothers, Clifford and Frank Sanders. Mrs. Harris was a scrub tech for Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, Wis., and a member of United Methodist Church of Greenup. Mrs. Harris is survived by a son, Edward (Cathy) Scaggs of Rockford, Ill.; three daughters, Norma (John) Whobrey of Greenup, Linda (Steve) Kantner of Indianapolis, Ind., and Iris (Larry) Barrett of Grays Lake, Ill.; two grandchildren, Amanda Scaggs and Sherry Krepfle; and a great-grandchild, Gabriel Hale. She is also survived by four brothers, Curtis (Dee) Sanders of Westerville, Ohio, George Woodrow of Troy, Ohio, Larry Woodrow of Troy, and Alfred (Wanda) Sanders of Argillite; three sisters, Irene Baker of Wurtland, Maxine (Andy) Gordon of Greenup, and Florence (Woody) Large of Greenup.The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2011, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods with Rev. Gray officiating.
