Judith Ann Abdon Cumpton, 72, of Raceland, KY, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY.
Mrs. Cumpton was born April 2, 1948, in Wurtland, KY to the late Russell Lowell and Helen Walker Abdon.
In addition to her parents, Judith was preceded in death by one brother, Russell Abdon, Jr. and a sister, Jeannie Barber.
Mrs. Cumpton was a homemaker that cared deeply for her family. She enjoyed quilting, camping, and genealogy. She was heavily involved in her church, Abundant Life United Pentecostal Church, where she became a member in 1964. Judith was the church secretary, treasurer, Ladies Auxillary President, and Sunday School teacher for the nursery. She had perfect Sunday School attendance for close to 22 years.
Mrs. Cumpton is survived by her loving husband of fifty-six years, Ira Cumpton of Raceland, KY; two sons, Ira (Natalie) Cumpton Jr. of Thomasville, NC and David Russell (Stephanie) Cumpton of Huntington, WV; a daughter, Penny Irene (Tony) Cumpton Grubb of Ashland, KY; nine grandchildren: Megan (Andy) Fields, Alex (Dru) Knight, Samantha (Joe) Means, James Cumpton, Miranda Cumpton, Marissa (David) Lomax, Benjamin Cumpton, Bailey Ann Grubb, and Leah Cumpton; five great-grandchildren: Connor, Audrey, James Thomas, Levi, and Ellie Mae; two brothers, Kenneth (Melody) Abdon of Raceland, KY and Glenn (Melba) Abdon of Germany; three sisters, Nancy (Don) Williams of Phoenix, AZ, Frances (Barry) Klaiber of Ironton, OH, and Shirley (Kenneth) Barker of Raceland, KY; many nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
The family has arranged a private service with Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY.
