Leona Riffe Williams, 81, of Flatwoods, KY, nourished people around her with love, faith, and music from the time of her birth until Monday, August 17, 2015. She passed at Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods, Ky.
Mrs. Williams was born on October 9, 1933 in Ashland, KY; a daughter of the late Willard and Lena White Riffe. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Williams and several immediate family members.
For the majority of her life, she was a loving and nurturing wife and mother. She had worked, for a short time, in central supply for Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, KY. She was a member of Christ Temple in Huntington, WV. She had also been affiliated with TOPS in Flatwoods, KY. Whatever she did, she wanted it to be wrapped in God’s love. When she did correspondence of any kind, she would add to the back, “Jesus loves you, and I do too!” She would write poetry, with divine inspiration, for those who were going through life issues, to point them toward her Master. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing, as well.
Her “home-going” will be celebrated by her loving children: Gene (Trina) Williams of South Point, OH, Randy (Katrina) Williams of Raceland, KY, and Carol (Dennis) Chambers of Flatwoods, KY; seven grandchildren: Gretta (Joe) Adkins, Deanna Williams, Charis Chambers, Laura (Mike) McComas, Joshua (Jessica) Jones, Kiera (Brandon) Midkiff, and Christopher (Autumn) Lee; fifteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and one great great grandchild due to be born. She is also survived by her brother, John (Doris) Riffe of Flatwoods, KY and a host of in-laws, extended family, and dear friends.
