Lucille Bays Witten

Lucille Bays Witten, 85, of Flatwoods, KY, formerly of Wurtland, KY passed away on Thursday, October 2, 1014 at Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods, KY. Mrs. Witten was born on May 18, 1929 in Wurtland, KY, the third child of the late William and Mollie Coburn Bays.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Clifford Witten, a sister, Avaleen Cooke, three brothers: Glen, George and Kenneth Bays, and the youngest sister, Janice Speaks. Lucille was a devoted wife and homemaker, with jobs at Greenbo State Park and Mocabee’s of Greenup.  When she was able, she enjoyed working in her flower gardens, baking and cooking. Lucille was always ready for a cup of coffee. Mrs. Witten is survived by her children: Richard Witten (Frances Steenbergen) of Danville, KY; Paul (Elaine) Witten of Naples, FL; and Susan (Mitchell) Sherrod of Greenup, KY. She also is survived by ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, KY with Pastor Bill Oakes officiating.
