GREENUP — Lucy S. Bradford, 96, of Poplar Highlands in Raceland, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, in Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods.Mrs. Bradford was born Feb. 15, 1915, in Hopewell, a daughter of the late George G. and Piety May Scott. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, William Allen Bradford, and her son, William Scott Bradford.Mrs. Bradford was a retired teacher and librarian for both the Greenup County and Raceland-Worthington school systems. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Greenup County Librarians Organization. She was also a proud member of the Historical Society of Greenup County and an auxiliary member of the Gideons since 1959. She was a member of Wurtland United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.Mrs. Bradford was a high school graduate from Greenup County and an alumnus of Morehead State University. Mrs. Bradford is survived by her son, Hugh George (Susan) Bradford of Atlanta, Ga.; and her daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Bradford of Raceland. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, William Scott (Donna) Bradford Jr., Robert Irwin (Debby) Bradford, Samuel David (Hye Kyong) Bradford and Amy S. Bradford Fortner; and five great-grandchildren, Richard Scott Bradford, Jamie Sue Bradford, Leslie Bradford, Lindsey Bradford and Hunter Matthew Fortner.A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods by the Rev. Don Young, assisted by Pastor James Deal and Pastor Mark Wilson. Burial will be in Scott Family Cemetery in Oldtown following the service.
