Melissa Jane Scott

Melissa Jane Scott, 47, of Raceland went to be with her Heavenly Family on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the Community Hospice Care Center of Ashland. Our Beloved Angel Melissa was the heart and soul of her family and our anchor in every storm. With her heart filled by the love and promise of her Savior Jesus Christ, she never lost her smile or joy for life during her struggles of the last few months. You could have never had a truer friend or greater ally. She will be forever missed by her family and friends. Melissa was born March 8, 1969 in Ashland to Roger A. Scott of Flatwoods and the late Donetta J. Perry Evans. Melissa is survived by her wife of 18 years, Beverly Wages Scott of Raceland; one sister Jessica Borders Cooper of West Palm Beach, FL; two brothers Gene (Aprildawn) Gollihue of Phoenix, AZ and Tim Scott of Ashland; step-daughter Tori (Jasmine) Shaffer of Grayson; aunt Beth (Dan) Dotson of Pomona Park, FL; beloved niece Alexis Scott and great nephew Andy of Phoenix, AZ; nephew Dylan Jeffrey Niemira of West Palm Beach, FL - Melissa was blessed to be here for his recent birth; and a very special brother-in-law Andrew Cooper of Morehead who was by her side through it all - she loved her "Bubby" deeply. In addition to her mother, Melissa was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Neely Preece and Jenetta Church; paternal grandparents J.D. and Katherine Scott; and aunt Barbara "Barbie" Thompson. The family is being served by the Bailey Family Funeral Home of Flatwoods. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at the Bayless Family Cemetery.
