Melvin Eugene Crum, 86, of Wurtland, KY, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2020, at his residence surrounded by his loved ones.
Mr. Crum was born July 1, 1934, in Ashland, KY, to the late Frank Morrison and Graden Christine Bartlett Crum.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Crum was preceded in death by his loving wife, Almeda Deloris Evans Crum; two sons, William Dee and Danny Frank Crum; two grandchildren, Paul Edward Crum Jr. and Joanna Murphy; two brothers, James and George Crum; two sisters, Rosemary Ball and Loretta Morrison; and a daughter-in-law, Jackie Crum.
Mr. Crum was an Engineer Operator at AK Steel in Ashland, KY and a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. He had a reputation through the community as being helpful, caring, loving to his family and so many friends and neighbors. He was not afraid to crack a joke at you here and there. Melvin was of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Crum is survived by four sons, Freddy Eugene (Lynn) Crum of South Shore, KY, Paul Crum of Greenup, KY, Teddy Ray Crum of Olive Hill, KY, and Richard (Linda) Crum of Greenup, KY; three daughters, Eva Christine (Ralph) Burchett of Wurtland, KY, Juanita Crum of Morehead, KY, and Melvina (Vernon) Lambert of Morehead, KY; 24 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY, with Rev. Lloyd L. Bailey and Rev. Vernon Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Tick Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill, KY.
Visitation will be from 11 A.M. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
