Michael "Mike" Oney

Michael “Mike” Oney, 73, of Flatwoods, KY, joined his wife and Savior on October 15, 2024, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY, surrounded by his loved ones.

Mr. Oney was born November 12, 1950, in Ashland, KY to the late James “Jim” and Mary Griffith Oney.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carla Faye Oney; a granddaughter, Emily Clark; two brothers, James Deran Oney and Denver Silas Oney; and a sister, Lena Leibee.

Mr. Oney was a machinist who manufactured wheel bearings for Timken Bearings in Columbus, OH. He graduated from Boyd County High School in 1968 and was a member of Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle in Flatwoods, KY.

Mike is survived by his two sons, Chris (Terra) Oney of Huntington, WV, and Jeremy (Johnda) Oney of Flatwoods, KY; seven grandchildren: Cameron (Jordan) Oney, Chandler Oney, Lydia (Gabe) House, Andrew Oney, Payden Oney, Brailey (Rylan) Cecil, and Parker Clark; three great-grandchildren: Baylee Oney, Grayson Oney, and Graham House; four sisters, Virginia “Jenny” Cordle of Ashland, KY, Dorothy Yates of Greenup, KY, Faye Smith Tackett of Lexington, KY, Francis Stone Leibee of Ashland, KY; and a host of extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle (906 McCown Street, Flatwoods, KY 41139) in Flatwoods, KY, with Pastor Lloyd L. Bailey and Asst. Pastor J.E. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Russell, KY.

Visitation will be 6 P.M. – 9 P.M. on Friday, October 18, 2024, and one hour before the service on Saturday at the church.

The family would like to thank the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY, and Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods, KY for their loving care and support during Mike’s final days.
