Nancy Mae Deer Bailey

Nancy Mae Deer Bailey, 78, of Flatwoods, KY went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Bailey was born on March 5, 1936 on Short White Oak Road, in Flatwoods, KY, a daughter of the late James A. and Ruth E. Cordle Deer.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd C. “Sonny” Bailey, a son, Troy Dale Bailey, and a daughter, Pamela Kay Crittenden.  She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Maxine L. Perry and Janice A. Deer; and a grandson, Brandon Lucas Bailey. She was a loving mother and homemaker.  She was a charter member, congregational song leader, and Sunday school teacher of the Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle in Flatwoods, KY. She was one of the original members of the quartet, “The Shoutin’ Mommas,” who sang and traveled with the late Rev. Bennie Grizzle. She is survived by two sons:  Lloyd (Cathy) Bailey of Greenup and Terry (Kim) Bailey of Raceland, KY; two daughters: Debra C. Gambill of Flatwoods, KY and Tina R. (Jerry) Kazee of Columbus, OH; a brother, Gary W. Deer of Toledo, OH; two sisters: Diane L. Deer and Brenda J. Burkett, both of Flatwoods, KY; 19 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. The funeral will be on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 1 PM at the Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle with Rev. J.E. Smith and Rev. Mike Nichols will be officiating.  Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, KY. The visitation will be on Thursday, from 6 to 9 PM at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY.  Condolences may be sent to BaileyFamilyFuneralHome.com.
