Olive Jean White Reed, 95, of Lexington, KY, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at Baptist Health in Lexington, KY surrounded by her loved ones.
Mrs. Reed was born March 1, 1924, in Chinnville, KY to the late Edward Lincoln and Mary Jane Adkins White.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert L. “Bob” Reed; one son, Edward E. Reed; one brother, Cecil “Pete” White, one sister, Gwendolyn White Clarke.
Mrs. Reed was a 1942 graduate from Raceland High School and attended Ashland Business School. After graduating high school Olive delivered telegrams on roller skates for Western Union during WWII. Mrs. Reed was also a Medical Secretary for Dr. Boggs in Russell, KY. She attended First Assembly of God in Nicholasville, KY and was a lifelong member of First Assembly of God in Raceland, KY where she taught ages four and five-year-old boys and girls Sunday School for over 40 years. Olive was an avid reader, enjoyed trips to the beach, and crafting.
Mrs. Reed is survived by two grandchildren, Susan R. (Mark) Cox and Matthew Reed both of Lexington, KY; one sister, Doris White Bradley of Cincinnati, OH; one daughter-in-law, Saundra Reed of Lexington, KY; several nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, KY.
Visitation will be from 11 A.M. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
