GREENUP — Randolph “Randy” Yates, 91, of Raceland, passed away Feb. 12, 2012, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.Mr. Yates was born Nov. 4, 1920, in Willard, a son of the late Kenneth Yates and the late Bessie Blevins McFarland. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Dennis R. Yates, Leroy Yates, Delmas Yates and Estil Yates; a great-granddaughter, Gracie Cantrell; and a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Ball Yates.Mr. Yates proudly served his country in the Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart. He was a carpenter for Clarence Bailey Building and a member of Freedom Worship Church of God in Greenup. Mr. Yates is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Emma Williams Yates; a son, Roger D. Yates and his wife, Elaine, of Bowling Green; a daughter, Pam Mathes and her husband, Tom, of South Point, Ohio; a son, Rick Yates and his wife, Kathy, of Belleville, Mich.; and a son, Curt Yates of Raceland. He is also survived by two brothers, Harold Yates and Leonard Yates and his wife, Betty, all of Flatwoods; two sisters, Ruth McLeod of Raceland and Juanita Inskeep and her husband, Don, of Flatwoods; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a host of extended family and friends. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods by Pastor Kevin Witt and the Rev. Hyden Curnutt. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, and one hour before the funeral at the funeral home. Military rites will be by American Legion Kenova Post 93. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in his honor to Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
