Rebecca Elizabeth Short Niece

Wife, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother made her final journey to meet her Savior and loving husband Bennett on April 27, 2022. Elizabeth was born November 21, 1935, to Henry and Maggie Short of Wise, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers, and one sister. Her cherished husband Bennett of 63 years has been waiting for her since 2017. Elizabeth was a devout Christian who loved her Lord above all. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren unconditionally. She always tried to set an example of what a Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother should be. Elizabeth is survived by twelve children: Lois (Max) Karshner, Saundra Potter, Kathy (Charles) Caperton, Debi Morris, James (Curta) Niece, Greg (MaryAnn) Niece, Tim (LeAnn) Niece, Jeff Niece, DeWayne Niece, Tony Niece, and Scott (Jessie) Niece. Elizabeth was also blessed with twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 12 P.M. (Noon) on Monday, May 2, 2022, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY with Rev. Tim French officiating. Burial will follow at Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd, KY. Visitation will be 6 P.M.-8 P.M. on Sunday, May 1, 2022, and one hour before the funeral service on Monday at the funeral home.
