Rhonda Ray Pennington

Rhonda Ray Kirkbride Pennington, 66, of Flatwoods, KY, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, KY.

Rhonda was born July 30, 1958, in Ashland, KY, to the late Paul Kirkbride and Martha Jean Cordle Fortune.

In addition to her parents, Rhonda was preceded in death by two sisters, Sherry Bowman and Lou Ann Fortune.

Mrs. Pennington was a Senior Tax Analyst at H&R Block for several years. She was a United States Army Veteran and attended the Church of God in Raceland, KY. 

Rhonda is survived by her loving husband of twenty years, Donald Ray Pennington of Flatwoods, KY; her sister, Tracy “Theodore” Adams of Russell, KY; her niece, Lateissa Adams of Flatwoods, KY; two nephews: David and Keith Hicks; great-niece, Emma Steele of Flatwoods, KY; four brothers-in-law, Roger (Barbara) Pennington Lexington, KY, Johny (Sharon) Pennington of Olive Hill, KY, Ronald Pennington of Sandy Hook, KY, and Jerry Pennington of Rowan County, KY; sister-in-law, Linda Sue Pennington of Sandy Hook, KY; and a host of extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 3 P.M. on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY, with Rev. Lloyd L. Bailey and Rev. Jason A. Bailey.

Visitation will be at 2 P.M. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
