Richard Duck Cordle

Richard “Duck” Cordle, 84, of Greenup, KY passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at The Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley in Ironton, OH. Mr. Cordle was born on July 27, 1929 in Russell, KY; a son of the late James Henry “Jim-Tom” and Nellie Mae Wilburn Cordle.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ted Cordle, and four sisters, Okie Metz, Viola Lowery, Martha Fortune, and Shirley Stanley. Mr. Cordle worked in the machine shop at Kentucky Electric Steel, a past president of United Steel Workers, Local 7054, and a life member of VFW post 1168 in Greenup, KY. Mr. Cordle is survived by his wife, Iris Ann Bailey Cordle; five sons,  Phillip (Faye) Cordle of Waterloo, OH, David (Julie) Cordle of Greenup, KY, Tony (Beverly) Cordle of Atlanta, GA, Glen “Bud” (Irene) Bailey of Beach Island, SC, and Terry Jenkins of Greenup, KY; a daughter, Lisa Jenkins of Greenup, KY; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; four brothers: Bill (Ruby) Cordle of Indiana, Ron (Ruby) Cordle of Russell, KY, David “Jeek” (Betty) Cordle of Indiana, and Virgil (Nellie) Cordle of Greenup, KY; one sister, Mary “Nab” Griffith of Atlanta, GA and a host of extended family and friends. The funeral will be at 1 pm on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY with Rev. Lloyd L. Bailey.  Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County, KY. Military rites will be performed by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova, WV. The visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm at the funeral home. Condolences may be left at baileyfamilyfuneralhome.com.
