Rita Sue Blanton Whitaker

Rita Sue Blanton Whitaker, 83, of Rush, KY, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. Sue was born on March 17, 1939, in Johnson County, KY, to the late Hasadore Blanton and Ruby Music Blanton. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whitaker was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Bradley Arrowood and her brother, Jim Blanton. Sue was a homemaker that enjoyed quilting, shopping, cooking, baking, and gardening. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Whitaker was a member of Wilson Creek Missionary Baptist church. Mrs. Whitaker is survived by her loving husband of thirty-nine years, James David Whitaker; one son, Billy Ray (Robin Ann Alcorn) Arrowood of Cynthiana, KY; three daughters, Connie Lynn (Bill Kelley) Arrowood of Greenup, KY, Davida Sue Brooke of Milton, WV, and Jamie Lynn Bowling of Catlettsburg, KY; seven grandchildren: Todd Wesley (Sandy) Arrowood, Christina Lynne (Wit) Withers, Michelle Wilson, Magen Hall, Keenan Fultz, Jessica Dunkle, and Jordan Pritt; ten great-grandchildren: Hunter Bradley Arrowood, Autumn Grace Arrowood, Shelby Lynne Withers, Chelsea Ann Withers, Hannah Binge, Andrew Wilson, Carter Wilson, Griffen Hall, Jayden Castillo, and Elias Castillo; and a host of extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY with Pastor Danny Brown officiating.
