Robert Lee Smith

Robert L. Smith, 81, of Coal Grove, OH, passed away on Thursday, October 29, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Ironton, OH. Mr. Smith was born March 5, 1939, in Huntington, WV, to the late Thomas H., Sr. and Maudie Smith. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his son, Robert L. Smith, Jr.; two brothers, Thomas Herman Smith, Jr. and Arnold Smith; and a sister, Frances Smith. Robert was a U.S. Navy Veteran and a Tow Motor Operator for Chrysler Corporation. Robert was a devout Christian and faithful Deacon at New Jerusalem Christian Center in Ironton, OH. He loved singing for the Lord. Mr. Smith is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Julia M. Sarver Smith of Coal Grove, OH; two daughters, Kathy (Tim) Shea of Florida, and Carol Sue Smith of Ironton, OH; eight grandchildren: Alan (Kimberly) Smith, Johnathan (Tabitha) Smith, Steven Krzynowek, Bruce Krzynowek, Joshua Csombok, Boyd (Allyson) Bush, Wendi Bush, and Joshua Bush; five great-grandchildren: Zack, Zoey, Torrie, Aidon, and Austin; a daughter-in-law, Leslee Smith of Youngstown, OH.; and a host of extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at New Jerusalem Christian Center in Ironton, OH with Pastor Bishop Isaac Glover officiating. Burial will follow at Haverhill Cemetery, Haverhill, OH. Visitation will be at 11 A.M. until time of the service on Tuesday at the church.
