Ronald Alan Martin, 68 of Flatwoods, KY passed away on December 23, 2022. He was born September 18, 1954, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Charles Morris Martin Jr. and Marian Ada (Murphy) Martin. He leaves behind his sister Marlene Lily Martin, his niece Daisy M. Martin, and his nephew Vishva Martin.
Ron was a dedicated pharmacist, recently retired. As a young boy he loved science, particularly chemistry, and he also loved helping people. Becoming a pharmacist was a natural outgrowth of these twin passions. After some years, while working in both hospital and retail pharmacies, he took evening courses to earn a Ph.D. in pharmacy.
He was a lifelong practitioner of Transcendental Meditation (TM) as taught by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Twenty minutes, twice a day, this served to both release stress and enhance his creativity and intelligence.
Ron was also a Buddhist. Buddha once said: “Teach this triple truth to all: A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity.” Ron lived these ideals throughout his personal and professional life.
Finally, he was notoriously quick-witted and observant and left a legacy of comedic prose and poetry to enjoy… leaving some laughing, and some crying.
In lieu of flowers, Ron has suggested that people send donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
