Ronald Eugene Hatfield, a retired coal miner, loving father, husband, and grandfather of Ashland, KY (Originally from Varney, WV); went to his Heavenly Home on Saturday, October 20th, 2018. We are only here for a little while, and we were blessed to have him in our lives for 70 years. He will forever be remembered as a practical jokester who never met a stranger and would do anything for anybody. The family that he joined in Heaven is his parents, Sadie & Lloyd Hatfield; sister, Rosetta Ball; and brother, Billy Hatfield.He is survived by his loving wife and caregiver (of 47 years), Gladys Hatfield and daughter, Felicia (Michael) Harris of Ashland, KY. Plus three grandkids: Michael Lee Harris Jr. (Mikie Lee), Alexis Cierra Harris (Lexi), and Aubrey Grace Harris; three brothers, Junior (Tina) Hatfield of Chonea, IL , Sidney (Bonnie) Hatfield of Thacker, WV, and Tommy (Sherrie) Hatfield of Cartersville, GA; six sisters, Brenda Trent of Twin Lakes, WI, Juanita (Harold) Skidmore of Peru, IL, Betty Jane Hatfield of Twin Lakes, WI, Shirley (Dave) Wyss of Raeford NC, Lorraine (Junior) Hatfield of Cropsey, IL, and Mary Blair of Gilman IL. Also, his very special home health nurse that helped take care of him, Robin Vanhoose and his Physical Therapists, Kim Lee & Shelly Robertson, and a host of nieces and nephews, close neighbors and friends. A Celebration of Ronald's life will be held at 12 P.M. on Thursday, October 25th, 2018, at Raceland Church of God of Prophecy (121 Hillview Ave Raceland, KY 41169) with Pastor Mark Hess officiating. Burial following directly after service at Ashland Cemetery.Visitation will be from 11 A.M. until time of service on Thursday at the church.The family has entrusted Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY with the arrangements.Condolences can be expressed at baileyfamilyfuneralhome.com.
