Sarah Elizabeth Danner Garvin

Sarah Elizabeth Danner Garvin, 97, of Ashland, KY, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Woodland Oaks Health Care in Ashland, KY, surrounded by her loved ones.

Sarah was born October 2, 1926, in Greenup, KY, to the late John Wesley Danner and Emma Mae Keeton Danner.

In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-six years, Bruce Garvin; a son, Wade Garvin; a daughter, Molly Garvin; two grandsons, Timothy and Todd Garvin; a great-granddaughter, Natalia Cox; eight siblings.

Mrs. Garvin made windows for Pennco and volunteered at the Little Sandy Fire Department where she and Red Lambert started the Women’s Auxiliary. She was an excellent gardener and of the Baptist Faith.

Sarah is survived by four sons, Larry (Alene) Garvin of Greenup, KY, John Daniel (Pam) Garvin of South Shore, KY, Bruce Michael (Connie) Garvin of Westwood, KY, and Tom (Ernie Sue) Garvin of Greenup, KY; three daughters, Mary (Frank) Kiser of Greenup, KY, Polly Boyd of Flatwoods, KY, and Anita (Shannon) Deirfield of South Shore, KY; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Picklesimer of Greenup, KY; and a host of extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY, with Rev. Larry Garvin officiating. Burial will follow at Garvin Cemetery in Wurtland, KY.

Visitation will be from 11 A.M. to the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
