Sharon Scott Fryer, 77, of Flatwoods, KY, formerly of Ironton, OH, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2019, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY.
Mrs. Fryer was born July 19, 1941, in Ironton, OH, to the late Clarence H. and Freda A. Justice Scott.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fryer was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, James E. “Bud” Fryer.
Mrs. Fryer was a 1959 graduate of Ironton High School and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education in 1966 from Ohio University. She was a secretary at Barnes Plumbing and Heating as well as the Lawrence County Welfare Department. Sharon was a school teacher at Decatur Elementary and Rock Hill Elementary. After 30 years of teaching, Mrs. Fryer retired in 1991.
Mrs. Fryer is survived by a sister-in-law, Betty (Bill) Fryer Kinner of Summitt, KY; two nephews, James and Micheal Kinner of Summitt, KY; two great-nieces, Elizabeth and Allyson Kinner of Ashland, KY; two great-nephews, Jordan and Aiden Kinner of Summitt, KY; several cousins, and a host of extended family, friends, and students who will always remember her.
A graveside service will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, May 17, 2019, at Woodland Cemetery in Ironton, OH with Pastor Dicky Tiller officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sharon’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101).
