Thomas Richard Hodge, 88, of Ashland, KY, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019, at his residence.
Mr. Hodge was born November 21, 1930, in Wevaco, WV to the late Elijah and Bertie Dolin Hodge.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hodge was proceeded in death by four brothers: Emert, Lairdy “B”, Robert, and Lowell Hodge; three sisters: Emma Thompson, Bertha Mulkey and Linda Lewis; one son-in-law, Harry “Ron” Broam; and one grandson, Clayton S. Broam.
Mr. Hodge was a U.S. Korean War Army Veteran, Vice President of Manufacturing for National Mines and retired from Pittston Coal in 1992 as a Plant Manager. Thomas was a member of Bridges Christian Church for over 50 years, as well as a member of the Ashland Elks Lodge #350 for over 50 years.
Mr. Hodge is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ruby Barker Hodge of Ashland, KY; two daughters: Tamra Broam of Ashland, KY and Latisa Roark of Raceland, KY; four grandchildren: Clinton Hodge and Cassandra, Alyssa, and Samantha Roark; two brothers: Elijah “Jack” (Bobbie) Hodge of Marion, OH and Sherman (Betty) Hodge Radford, VA; and one sister, Cora “Arlene” (Sonny) Kincaid of Momence, IL.
A memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY.
Visitation will be from 1 P.M. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Mr. Hodge’s honor to Community Hospice Care Center (1480 Carter Ave, Ashland, KY 41101).
