Virginia Marie Perkins

Virginia Marie Kirk Perkins, 91, of Flatwoods, KY, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at her residence.

Ms. Perkins was born February 19, 1932, in Adams County, OH, to the late Jesse “Tom” Kirk and Ollie Dehart Kirk.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by a daughter, Dian Layman; three granddaughters: Safrona Renaee Kincaid, Angela Ball, and Elizabeth “Toogie” Conley; a great-granddaughter, Mattie Conley; her sister, Edna Oliver; and the father of her children, Eugene “Carl” Perkins.

Marie was a homemaker and was a caretaker for the elderly for many years. She was also the treasurer for the Ashland Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. Marie was a former member of the VFW and AMVETS. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary 2329, the Red Hat Society, and Faith Christian Assembly Church.

Ms. Perkins is survived by her two sons, James (Ruth Ann) Perkins of Flatwoods, KY and Clifford (Teresa) Perkins of Raceland, KY; a daughter, Mary Beth (John) Williams of Raceland, KY; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Russell Kirk of Raceland, KY; sister, Shirlene Moore of Flatwoods, KY; and a host of extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12 P.M. (noon) on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY, with Pastor Dwight O. Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Russell, KY.

Visitation will be from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at the funeral home.
