Wesley Kim Cope, 73, of Flatwoods, KY, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY. Mr. Cope was born August 5, 1944 in Whitesville, WV to the late Clyde Franklin Cope and Freda Ellen Rice. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cope is preceded in death by one brother, Darrell Cope, and his step-father, George Rice. Mr. Cope was a welder for the local CSX Car Shop and a US Army Veteran. He also worked drywall and painting jobs most of his life. Mr. Cope was a member of Oak Street Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Flatwoods, KY. He loved fishing, spending time with his family, and his beloved dog, Lucy. Mr. Cope is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Kalie Webb Cope of Flatwoods, KY; one son, Wesley C. (Diana) Cope of Ashland, KY; one daughter, Lorie Jane Cope of Flatwoods, KY; one brother, George Rice of Flatwoods, KY; three sisters, Regina (Dennis) Clark and Glenda Harleen both of Flatwoods, KY and Dari Cope of Raceland, KY; and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY with Pastor Johnsey Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd, KY.
